Gain Muscle, Lose Fat - Viable?

Gain muscle lose fat

Want To Gain Muscle And Lose Fat?

If you go at a gym and make a poll whereby everyone can tells what their goal is, guess what would come on top of the poll? I can positively say that most would like to gain muscle, lose fat at the same time. I guess there's no one that just wants to either lose fat or gain muscle only ( It's human nature to be greedy, I guess ). We'll always want more than that.

So, can we gain muscle and lose fat at the same time?

Most of the time, the answer is no. It's not possible to do both instantaneously unless you are using some "assistance". You may ask why it's not possible. Here's why.

To lose fat, you have to consume less calories than what your body needs, do extra cardio to burn the calories and also weight training which is good too. While gaining muscle needs you to consume more calories, less cardio and proper weight training.

Have you noticed the contradiction here? Doing both together is like trying to do 2 exact opposite things which literally can't be done simultaneously. That is why most of us that are trying to do both will fail in generating any significant result.

Then, how do we both gain muscle, lose fat?

It's common sense. Just do it at a different time. Set each up in phases and then alternate between each of them.

"Gain Muscle" Phase

This is also called the "bulking up" phase whereby your goal will be to build maximum quality mass while keeping your fat gain close to nil.  Calories intake is increased in order to gain weight in this phase. As for weight training, you will be trying to make as much progress as possible and bulk up.

"Lose Fat" Phase

If the "gain muscle" phase is called the "bulking up" phase, then this phase is the "cutting up" phase. You will be looking to lose as much fat as possible while maintaining the muscle that you have built in the "gain muscle" phase. Calories intake is decreased so that your fat is burned faster.

Choose A Phase And Alternate

Now, all you need to do is to choose which phase that you would like to start out first. Here's a tip. If you are lean, start with "gain muscle" phase first and vice-versa. From here on, keep on a phase till it works and then change to the other phase. Keep alternating this until you have reached the body level that you want.
